Purpose
The Grass Foundation- ANA Award in Neuroscience was established in 2007 to recognize outstanding young physician-scientists conducting research in basic or clinical neuroscience. The Grass Foundation was established in 1955 by Albert and Ellen Grass to advance research and education in neuroscience, with a special focus on investigators early in their careers.

Eligible Candidates
Eligible candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Current membership in the ANA
- Physician-scientist neurology faculty members early in their careers (MD or MD, PhD)
- Faculty who are less than 5 years out of postgraduate training
- Actively working in the field of academic neurology or neuroscience
Not Eligible Candidates
- Full professor is not eligible
- Previous awardees
Candidates who have submitted unsuccessfully in the past may reapply. Self-nominations are encouraged.
The Honorary Membership and Awards Committee is not required to make the award each year if there is not an outstanding candidate.
Prize
The awardee will receive:
- $1,000 honorarium
- inclusion in the scientific program of the ANA’s Annual Meeting as either a poster or platform presenter
- gratis Annual Meeting registration
- up to $1,500 travel reimbursement
- a commemorative plaque
Requirements
Complete nominations must include the following:
- Nomination letter from Senior Neuroscience colleague detailing the nominee’s early achievements and career trajectory in neuroscience research
- Nominee’s CV
- Research Description: a summation of the nominee’s research (max 1 page) that identifies tops areas of research and includes no more than links to 3 papers. Abstracts are acceptable.
